As Zendaya rolls out her steamy new movie Challengers, she's offering more glimpses into her relationship with Tom Holland than ever.

The mostly private couple hit it off while making the recent Spider-Man trilogy of films together: She was the MJ to his Peter Parker.

As a source tells PEOPLE, "They are proud of each other’s successes and totally supportive. This is a plus in their relationship making it equal."

"They are each caring toward the other," adds the source. "It’s not a case where one is caring and the other isn’t so much. They are great people and are there for the good and bad. As busy as they are, this is super important."

In Challengers, in theaters now, Dune star Zendaya, 27, takes center stage as a tennis pro wrapped in a three-way romance with two other players (Mike Faist and Josh O'Connor).

"This is my first time leading a film in this way so ya girls been nervous but everyone's excitement and encouragement has meant the world to me," the two-time Emmy winner wrote on Instagram, offering a behind-the-scene look at the film.

"I’m so honored that I get to do this beside these incredibly talented, brilliant (and hilarious) people," added Zendaya, "and on behalf of all of us, we hope you enjoy the film."

British star Holland, also 27, showed support for Challengers back in February. "You ain't ready for this one!" he wrote on Instagram when he shared the trailer with his followers.

The couple have been spotted hanging out together on her press tour for the movie, including in London when they were photographed being playful during an outing on April 11.

Holland is readying to star in a production of Romeo and Juliet on London's West End, set for a limited run beginning in May. To Vogue, Zendaya recently said she "could not be more proud" of him, and, "I’m going to try to see as many shows as I possibly can.”

In interviews ahead of Challengers, Zendaya has given rare insight into their relationship. Within her Vogue cover story, she described seeing Holland grapple with his sky-rocketing superhero fame.

“We were both very, very young, but my career was already kind of going, and his changed overnight," she said. "One day you’re a kid and you’re at the pub with your friends, and then the next day you’re Spider-Man. I definitely watched his life kind of change in front of him. But he handled it really beautifully."

That recognition also worked in his favor when he and Zendaya were pulled over for speeding, she shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“Tom and I were rushing to a spin class … with my mother,” she said on the late-night show. “I was not going to do the spin class. He was going to do the spin class ’cause I don’t do that. But we were going a little fast ’cause we were running late."

Added Zendaya, "They recognized that he was Spider-Man, and we were fine. We got a warning and everything was okay."

Aside from their adorable anecdotes, the two actors have made a conscious effort to keep their romance private. Holland explained to GQ back in 2021, for instance, "Loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other."
