Inside Mom-to-Be Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's Love Story: It Was 'Love at First Sight'

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank first met during a 2010 ski trip in Verbier, Switzerland. Eugenie said it was "love at first sight" — and Jack agreed.

"We met when I was 20, he was 24," she said. "[We] fell in love. We have the same passions and drive for life."

Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter shared her first thoughts about Jack in a pre-wedding interview, revealing: "I thought, 'What a silly hat!' And I thought, 'Who’s that?' "

She continued, "And then [looking at Jack], you came over and shook my hand, and I was all butterflies and nervous."

Eugenie shared that she called her mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, that night to tell her about the new guy she had met.

Luckily, the royal didn’t have to wait long for it to be clear that her feelings were reciprocated.

"I remember being like, 'I really, really like this guy, I really want him to like me too,’ and then you gave me this huge windscreen wiper wave and that was it: 'Right, he likes me,' " she said.

The couple attended their first Royal Ascot, a staple on the royals' calendar, together in 2011.

From 2013 to 2015, the couple made their relationship long distance while Eugenie lived in New York City for work.

"We spend a lot of time on Skype," Jack told the Daily Mail. "It’s great. We are still very much together."

After Princess Eugenie returned to the U.K., she spoke with Harper's Bazaar about life at home with Jack.

"When I'm with Jack, we watch The Walking Dead, which we're obsessed with. Maybe Game of Thrones is our next thing," she said. "I don't watch reality shows, but I love cooking programs."

Jack was quickly part of Eugenie's family, standing between her parents Prince Andrew and Fergie at the 2015 Royal Ascot.

Princess Eugenie and Jack attended Pippa Middleton's wedding together in May 2017.

Double date! Jack and Eugenie sat court side with singer Ellie Goulding and her now-husband Casping Jopling at a 2017 New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.

Jack proposed to Princess Eugenie during a January 2018 vacation to Nicaragua.

"The lake was so beautiful. The light was just a special light I had never seen," the royal said. "I actually said, 'This is an incredible moment,' and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years. I was over the moon."

The couple joined members of the royal family during their Easter church outing in 2018.

Eugenie and Jack attended her cousin Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018 — just months before their own nuptials at the same church, St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Jack and Princess Eugenie tied the knot on October 12, 2018.

"This was the greatest day of my life...forever and always!" Eugenie wrote on Instagram on their first anniversary.

Princess Eugenie and Jack announced they were expecting their first child in September 2020. "Jack and I are so excited for early 2021..." she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of fuzzy baby slippers.
