As VIP visitors walk into the Dior Suite at the Majestic Hotel, they are met with images of the sun and a large lion sculpture made of shells in the lobby. Overlooking the Palais and its magnificent red carpet where the energy is electric this year — such as at the Furiosa world premiere, which received a seven-minute standing ovation — Dior’s beauty suite will be doing makeup for celebrities throughout the festival, getting them glammed up for their daytime photo calls and nighttime premieres.

Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson (the face of the Dior Homme fragrance) have all visited the suite in past years. For the opening ceremony on May 14, Belgian actress Emilie Dequenne, French actress and comedian Camille Cottin and French actress Valerie Donzelli were all made up by Dior.

The marriage of fashion and film, especially at festivals like these, is symbiotic. You can’t have one without the other, and you can’t have both without beauty.

Every year, Dior creates a dreamy ambiance for the beauty suite, which brings together A-list makeup artists, hairdressers, facialists and nail artists. At 3,000-plus square feet, this year’s suite is designed around the theme of Toile de Jouy — a signature Dior design — with shell accents and details abound. The coral-hued Toile de Jouy is meshed with bamboo and raffia furniture giving the space a beach vibe feeling, in keeping with the view out to the Mediterranean Sea.

The makeup for Dior clients during the festival is curated by Peter Philips, the brand’s creative and image director for Dior Makeup, and administered by the Dior Pro Makeup team of Junior Cedeño, Normal Pohl, Jamie Coombes and Emmanuelle Geoffrey. Coming in for appointments with their suitcases and totes, the team — along with international makeup artists Aurore Gautier, Phophie Mathias, Fred Marin, Alexandra Schiavi, Yumi Endo and Christina Lutz — unpack and set up at their stations, combining Dior’s masterfully tested products and their skillful cosmetic techniques.

The nail bar also ensures that hands are pristine and no detail is overlooked for photo calls. Stars can get a manicure with products from the Dior Vernis line. Massages from the Académie des Facialistes — using the Dior Prestige range, and created by Catherine Bourgeois and Delphine Langlois with customized treatments — are another way to prep before a celebrity gets their makeup done. Additionally, if all that wasn’t enough, Dior has partnered with PR honcho Albane Cleret’s Terrasse by Albane lounge and set up shop on the JW Marriott hotel rooftop where celebrities also can go for personalized treatments.

In a first-ever, Dyson products are being used at the Dior Suite. Known for its technological innovation, especially for their dryers, Dyson is offering celebrities a unique hair styling experience as they get ready for the festival in a space that’s calm and beautifully designed.
