'Insecure' Star Issa Rae Remaking 'Set It Off'

“Insecure” star Issa Rae is continuing to make boss moves and is set to remake “Set It Off”.

The Hollywood Reporter reports Rae will be produce and star in the “reimagining” of the 1996 thriller.

The classic flick starred Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox and Kimberly Elise.

The film focused on the four friends who go on a crime spree in Los Angeles. The women successful rob banks with intel from Fox’s bank teller character. The film was shot on a $9 million budget and made over $41 million worldwide.

Syreeta Singleton and Nina Gloster have been hired to write the script. Rae and her work partner, Montrel McKay, will handle producing the film.

Rae’s work schedule continues to be booked.

Earlier this month, Rae posted photos of her back on set of her HBO hit “Insecure”. She revealed the cast started day one of season four.

Rae posted a series of photos with her co-stars: Amanda Seales, Yvonne Orji and Natasha Rothwell. In the photos, the gorgeous ladies were out and about in Los Angeles.

Rae captioned the photo, “BeTtEr MaKe It A hOuR" Day One. Season Four. #InsecureHBO”.

“Insecure” was created by Issa Rae and comedian Larry Whilmore. The show was based on Rae’s web series “Awkward Black Girl”.

The critically acclaimed show follows Issa as Issa Dee as she tries to balance work, love and life in Los Angeles.
