‘Ink Master’ Renewed for Season 8 by Spike

Spike TV is still stuck on “Ink Master,” giving an eighth season to its popular tattoo-based reality competition series.

The news comes almost a week after the show’s 90-minute season six finale, which aired live and delivered 2.4 million viewers. Season seven debuts next spring and will feature returning favorite contestants. Season eight will consist of 15 one-hour episodes, as well as another live finale. It will go into production in March with a premiere slated for the summer.

“Ink Master” is produced for Spike by Original Media (“Swamp People,” “I Love You but I Lied”) with Glenda Hersh, Steven Weinstock and Andrea Richter serving as exec producers. Original Media is a subsidiary of Endemol Shine North America. Chachi Senior, Spike’s senior VP of original programming, oversees production of “Ink Master.”

“Ink Master delivered yet again a compelling and entertaining season packed with incredible artistic expression and creativity mixed in with big drama,” said Sharon Levy, Spike’s exec VP of original series. “The record ratings are a testament to our partners at Original Media and our phenomenal hosting/judging trio of Dave Navarro, Oliver Peck and Chris Nunez. We are thrilled to this great team back for season eight.”

Spike also recently renewed the spinoff series “Ink Master: Redemption.”
