Initial injury report ahead of week 5 matchup vs. Mississippi State

Texas A&M notched their most important win of the season thus far last Saturday after defeating the then 10th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks 23-21, which leads them to Starkville, Mississippi to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in one of the most challenging venues in college football.

On Monday, Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher spoke to the media, detailing Saturday’s victory, previewed their upcoming matchup with the Bulldogs, while also discussing the current injury report going into the week. Well, as much of you already know, star wide receiver Ainias Smith suffered a season-ending lower-body injury in the second half of Saturday’s game while blocking on an option play, rolling his leg up in the process.

As tragic as the injury to Smith is, count on his leadership continuing throughout the season, and being around the team, and especially the wide receiver group as much as possible. As of now, nose tackle McKinnley Jackson, who was a game-time scratch before the game, should return this weekend against the Bulldogs this weekend as his practice reps begin to ramp up.

Lastly, tight end Max Wright is still recovering from a preseason MCL tear and looks to be close to 100% this week, which is fantastic news for the offense, especially from a blocking perspective.
