Influencer accused of stealing $50,000 from client for ‘Instagram likes’: ‘A thief and a liar’

Music producer Mustard — formerly known as DJ Mustard — took to Instagram to claim that his personal shopper charged over $50,000 to his credit card while “buying stuff for herself.”

The Grammy-winning producer, real name Dijon Isaiah McFarlane, made the accusations in an April 13 Instagram Story, during which he called the employee a “thief and a liar.” The Stories are no longer on Mustard’s Instagram account, but some media outlets were able to take screenshots of his posts before they either expired or were taken down.

“Today I found out that she ran my credit cards up over $50k buying stuff for herself !!!!” Mustard claimed. “Purses, shoes, shades and other stuff … This is f******* crazy and just wrong !!!!”

Mustard tagged Instagram user @KarissaCWalker in his posts, although Walker’s account and website don’t explicitly name Mustard as one of her clients. Her website bio does say that she’s a “model, stylist and image consultant based in Los Angeles.”

According to People and Complex, Mustard also posted screenshots that he said contained messages between Walker and himself.

“Truly am so sorry,” she allegedly told him. “Should’ve never got to this point. My temptation turned to greed and I am so sorry.”

“All for f****** Instagram!!!” Mustard added in his post. “Mind you she gets paid $6K a month to shop, that’s $72K a year!! You. just messed that up for some f****** Instagram likes??!??”

A few Twitter sleuths cross-referenced photos on Walker’s Instagram and on the Instagram page of Mustard’s wife and noticed that certain designer items — like a camo Céline bag that retails at almost $2,000 — were featured on both accounts.

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean Walker bought the Céline bag just because she posed with it.

Most of the response on social media seems to be incredulous that someone who supposedly made $72,000 a year would take advantage of their employer in this manner.

“This woman fumbled $6K a month to ball on someone else’s budget during a pandemic,” one Twitter user wrote. “Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.”
