Indicted Giuliani Associate Lev Parnas Tells Rachel Maddow ‘Trump Knew Exactly What Was Going On’ in Ukraine

Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani accused of being involved in the attempt to pressure the Ukrainian government to investigate former vice president Joe Biden’s son in order to boost Donald Trump’s re-election efforts, told Rachel Maddow on Wednesday that Trump “knew exactly what was going on.”

Asked by the MSNBC host in a pre-taped interview what he wanted to correct on the record, Parnas said: “That the president didn’t know what was going on. President Trump knew exactly what was going on. He was aware of all of my movements. I wouldn’t do anything without the consent of Rudy Giuliani and the president.”

Parnas, who was indicted on campaign finance charges in October 2019, said he wants to testify in the president’s impeachment process because he wants “to get the truth out.” Trump has already been impeached by the House of Representatives. The articles of impeachment were delivered to the Senate hours before Parnas’ interview aired and the Senate is expected to take up the hearings in the coming days.

“Things happened that need to get out and I think the world needs to know,” Parnas said. An MSNBC banner below him read, “PARNAS ATTORNEY: MORE DOCUMENTS ARE COMING.”

Parnas also said Trump lied when he said he didn’t know who he was.

A representative for the White House didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
