Report: Colts, QB Jacoby Brissett agree to two-year, $30 million extension

The Indianapolis Colts, it appears, are sticking with Jacoby Brissett for the foreseeable future.
The Colts and their new starting quarterback agreed to a two-year, $30 million extension on Monday afternoon, with $20 million guaranteed, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Brissett was officially named the starting quarterback in Indianapolis last month after Andrew Luck suddenly announced he was retiring after just six seasons in the league — a move that shocked the football world.
Brissett, 26, was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft, and led the Colts during the 2017 season while Luck was recovering from shoulder surgery. Brissett threw for more than 3,000 yards and 13 touchdowns that year, though the team finished 4-12.

Brissett’s initial rookie contract was set to expire at the end of this season. His new deal will keep him in Indianapolis at least through the 2021 season. Brissett has played sparingly this preseason for the Colts, completing just 15 passes for 121 yards and one touchdown over two games.
The Colts signed former Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer to a three-year, $12 million deal with $9 million guaranteed on Monday, too, locking down their next backup quarterback.
