Don't give up on Indiana Jones cracking that whip one more time!

Fans have now been waiting for the franchise to right the wrongs of the much-maligned Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for more than a decade now, with no luck in terms of an actual film taking shape.

In a positive sign, producer Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that her team is still very hard at work on Indiana Jones 5 when she accepted her BAFTA Fellowship over the weekend.

"We're working away, getting the script where we want it to be," she told BBC News. "And then we'll be ready to go."

Asked to once again shoot down those rumours about the next movie being a "reboot", Kennedy insisted: "Oh no, Harrison Ford will be involved. It's not a reboot. It's a continuation… He can't wait. He absolutely is [up for it]."

Last year, Harrison Ford denied any suggestion that Chris Pratt could take over the titular role in a future Indy movie, insisting: "Nobody is going to be Indiana Jones, don't you get it? I'm Indiana Jones.

"When I'm gone, he's gone. It's easy. Get it in [your head]."

Since Ford made those comments, Jurassic Park and Spider-Man screenwriter David Koepp confirmed that he is back working on Indiana Jones 5 after previously departing the project.

Keep in mind that David Koepp also wrote Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in addition to Jurassic Park and Spider-Man films. We'll let you decide if his involvement in the next movie is good news or not.

Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled to be released by Disney on July 9, 2021.
