Indiana defensive lineman Gavin Everett probably wasn’t thinking about getting a scholarship when he got called in front of all of his teammates.

As coach Tom Allen was screaming into a megaphone in front of the whole team, he had Everett prepare to face an offensive lineman in what looked to be an Oklahoma drill.

The drill never happened on Tuesday. As Everett got ready to go, Allen called it off and told him he was getting a scholarship.

“I love that guy. All he does is work,” Allen told the team later in the video. “He don’t make excuses, came here as a walk-on, came to compete and he came to play.”

Everett, a redshirt junior, is an Indiana native. He grew up in Center Grove and had seven tackles as a sophomore in 2017.
