Inaugural Majestic Garden Tea at the Coachella Valley History Museum captures elegance

In the heart of Indio, amid the historic charm of the Coachella Valley History Museum, a magical event unfolded Feb. 3 — the inaugural Majestic Garden Tea. This extraordinary affair, organized under the visionary guidance of Gloria Franz and supported by the entire board, was a testament to the museum's commitment to making history come alive in the most enchanting way.

The event, held in the Geissler Rose Garden, transformed the museum into a haven of tradition, friendship and beauty. Attendees were treated to a traditional English afternoon tea experience, complete with delicate tea sandwiches, scones, sweets, Yorkshire Gold Tea and sparkling wine, all masterfully curated by Willie Rhine's Willie's Modern Fare and Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge.

A standout feature of the tea was the live harp performance by Vanessa Fountain, a local and touring concert artist, as well as an associate professor and chair of music at Mt. San Jacinto College. Her mastery of the harp added a symphony of melodic notes to the ambiance, elevating the experience for all in attendance.

One couldn't help but feel the sense of making history, especially with the presence of four generations of ladies who attended, and the warm welcome extended to several first-timers. The event provided a unique opportunity to get dressed up, savor delectable treats and enjoy the surroundings of the museum's beautiful campus.

Attendees were not only treated to the delights of the tea but also left with a charming keepsake — a tiny rose-shaped teaspoon, a memento that will surely evoke memories of this special occasion.

Franz, reflecting on the event, said, "The Majestic Garden Tea was a dream come true. The day exceeded all expectations." This sentiment echoed through the gardens as laughter, joy and the clinking of teacups filled the air.

It's important to note that this event wasn't just about a splendid afternoon; it was about creating a shared experience that connects individuals to history, tradition and each other. For those who were unable to attend, there's already anticipation building for the next Majestic Garden Tea, an event that promises to become a cherished tradition.
