Finally, the thaw is on and it's time to get up and out to enjoy a theater performance or concert. Check out these six things to do this weekend in Springfield.

Origins opening

The Springfield Art Association will feature the works of two local artists Friday night.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Origins opening reception showcases the photography of James Hawker and ceramics from Danny Brikshavana. The reception will be held at SAA Collective, 420 S. 6th St.

Sisters of the Moon

Classic hits from Stevie Nicks like "Landslide," "Rhiannon" and more will be performed by central Illinois artists this weekend at The Legacy Theatre, 101 E Lawrence Ave.

The group will hold three concerts: 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the show. Purchase online at https://thelegacytheatre.ludus.com/index.php.

Tunes from the toons

From Tom and Jerry to the Lion King, the Illinois Symphony Orchestra will showcase popular hits from animated movies and shows on Friday night.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m., at the University of Illinois Springfield Performing Arts Center, Tickets can be purchased online at https://uisticketoffice.showare.com/ Prices start at $22 for adults and are $10 for students age 24 and under.

1619 The Musical on stage

Take a trip back to 1619 The Musical being performed this weekend at the Hoogland Center for the Arts.

The show in the LRS theater starts at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Singers, dancers, actors, and spoken word artists recount past experiences of African Americans while tackling contemporary social issues.

Sponsored by the Spencer Theater and presented by the Springfield and central Illinois African American History Museum, tickets are $30 and can be purchased at https://www.hcfta.org/tickets.

Improv game night

It's Clue, Pictionary, Cards Against Humanity, and other board games with a twist at the Hoogland Center for the Arts on Saturday night.

Capital City Improv will act out scenes from the games starting at 8 p.m., and invite interaction with an adult-intended audience. Tickets are $15 and available online at https://www.hcfta.org/tickets.

Alice in Wonderland

The magic is at The Wakery, 5 W. Old State Capitol Plaza, on Sunday afternoon.

The Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party starts at 2 p.m. with food from Golden Hour Bakehouse and non-alcoholic beverages from The Wakery. Costumes are encouraged.
