Impending storm to delay COVID testing in Wayne County, other medical office openings

HONESDALE — Incoming winter weather will impact medical offices in Wayne County Friday.

The COVID-19 testing site in Honesdale is among the outpatient sites and offices associated with Wayne Memorial Community Health Center delaying their opening to 10 a.m., Friday, due to the impending storm.

Wayne Memorial Hospital will remain open as usual.

As listed on Wayne Memorial Hospital's website, the following outpatient sites and offices will delay opening:

  • Laboratory/Radiology and rehabilitation (physical, occupational and speech therapy) Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

  • Honesdale VA Outpatient Clinic

  • Lake Region Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine

  • Women’s Health Centers in Honesdale, Dingmans Ferry, Hamlin, and Carbondale

WMH officials state that weather conditions will continue to be monitored for any further modifications. Patients will be notified and announcements made accordingly.

Winter weather advisories begin Thursday evening in Pike and Wayne counties, with the expectation of “mixed precipitation,” according to the National Weather Service.

Potential accumulations range from 4 to 8 inches in northern Wayne County, according to the NWS.

Icy roads are possible, including one tenth to one quarter of an inch in Carbon and Monroe counties, as well as the Lehigh Valley. Conditions could impact commutes, particularly on Friday morning.

Pike and Wayne counties should see lower ice totals, but should still expect travel impacts.

“Snow and sleet will transition to freezing rain tonight into Friday morning from south to north,” the NWS said Thursday morning.
