After 12 seasons, NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" is sending off one of its key detectives.

Actress Kelli Giddish announced this summer that she would be exiting the long-running crime drama show mid-season, saying goodbye to her character, Detective Amanda Rollins. Her final episode is quickly approaching: A teaser for the Season 24 fall finale, set to air Dec. 8, promises an emotional farewell to the Special Victims Unit detective.

"I'm leaving SVU," Rollins says in the teaser, which debuted Thursday night.

What else can fans expect from her final episode? The 15-second teaser shows a clip of Rollins entering a courtroom wearing a white dress and carrying a bouquet of flowers as her colleagues – and love interest Dominick "Sonny" Carisi (Peter Scanavino) – turn around and appear stunned to see her. Are those wedding bells we hear?

"You going to start crying already, Liv?" Fin Tutuola (Ice-T) says with a smile to Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) as the two women hug.

In August, Giddish put to rest any speculation about her continued stint on the show in a statement to USA TODAY.

"I wanted to address the chatter I’ve seen online and let everyone know that this will, indeed, be my last season on ‘Law & Order: SVU,’" said Giddish.

While the 42-year-old actress didn’t disclose her reason for leaving the Emmy-winning series, she said "playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of (her) life."

"I’ve been so fortunate to be a part of the ‘Law & Order’ family for the last 12 years," Giddish continued. "There is simply no other character on TV like Rollins. She’s grown and changed, and I have as well. I started on this show when I was in my late 20s and I’m grateful I got to spend so many of my adult years with Rollins in my life."

Giddish made her first appearance in the "SVU” universe in 2007, playing Kara Bawson in the episode "Outsider." She scored a recurring role as Rollins in Season 13.

"I want to thank Dick Wolf, Mariska Hargitay, Warren Leight, Peter Jankowski, NBC, Universal Television, all of my co-stars, every single member on the crew and all the writers here for our incredible work together these last 12 years," Giddish said. "I’m so excited to take all the things I have learned in my time on ‘SVU’ and put them toward everything that’s next to come."
