The only hassle worse than putting together furniture is trying to take it apart—especially if it’s a piece you have no recollection of assembling. IKEA is here to change that by offering disassembly instructions for its most popular products, so you no longer need to wrack your brain to figure it out.

The beloved Swedish company recently released disassembly manuals in an effort to build upon its efforts at sustainability. Whether you’re moving and want to take your furniture with you or you plan on selling it, knowing how to correctly take it apart will reduce the chances it'll get damaged and tossed into a landfill.

You can view and download IKEA’s disassembly manuals on the company’s website. There, you’ll find instructions for the Billy bookcase, Malm desk, Poang chair, Brimnes bed, Pax wardrobe, and Lycsele sofa bed. While you could technically follow the assembly instructions in reverse, the disassembly manuals, obviously, flow better. There's less to think about, so you’ll save time in the long run!

As part of IKEA's goal to build a repurpose, repair, reuse, resell, or recycle aspect into every IKEA product by 2030, the company has also introduced a buy back and resell service. It's currently selling spare parts for minor repairs, too, and plans to stop selling non-rechargebale batteries to reduce waste. You can learn all about IKEA's sustainability offerings and plans here.
