Iggy Azalea’s Instagram Feed Reminds You She’s Single ... and That’s OK

Social media has always been Iggy Azalea’s PR tool of choice. Whether she’s promoting herself on Instagram or clarifying a breakup rumor on Twitter, the 26-year-old rapper has never shied away from using social media to her benefit.

And single Azalea is no exception.

After dealing with a very public split from fiancé Nick Young, Azalea has been dropping some not-so-subtle reminders on Instagram that she’s nixed her “taken” status. Her feed is filled with sexy bikini shots, taken from every angle.

And she makes it clear that her home is Azalea territory. No “Young” in sight.

Azalea was engaged to L.A. Laker Young for a year before the two called it quits. The pair had tried to make their rocky relationship work for years, despite the many ups and downs that began in early 2015, when Young, 31, was caught riding around in his car — a gift to “Swaggy P” from Azalea herself — with another woman. There was obvious tension in the new relationship, but Azalea used Twitter to defend Young:

Then suddenly, the wedding buzz came to a halt. Near the start of March 2016, Azalea revealed that she and Young were postponing their wedding — but only because it conflicted with her tour dates, she insisted. The postponed wedding raised eyebrows, but that was only the calm before the storm. On March 30, 2016, a video surfaced of Young allegedly admitting to cheating on Azalea. The video was secretly taped by Young’s Lakers teammate D’Angelo Russell, 20.

News of the video dropped like a social-media bomb. The Internet weighed in and dissected every inch of Azalea and Young’s relationship. Despite the turmoil, Azalea turned to Twitter yet again to confirm that she and Young were very much still together. But after spending months trying to rebuild their relationship, Azalea finally uploaded an Instagram post that said it all:

“Unfortunately although I love Nick and have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him — it’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to. I genuinely wish Nick the best. It’s never easy to part ways with the person you planned your entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page.”
Meanwhile, Young responded on social media with a Tweet that said, “Single.”

Azalea’s days of using Twitter to defend her relationship are officially behind her. Instead of dishing out explanations and excuses, now she’s posting to social media to show that she’s moving on. And she has the bikini-clad Instagram feed to prove it.
