Idris Elba Has Tested Positive for Coronavirus

Beloved actor Idris Elba has now tested positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19), joining fellow actors like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson affected by this global pandemic. The Dark Tower star took to Twitter to share his diagnosis with the world and reassure us about his condition.
“What’s up guys?” Elba kicks off the video message. “This morning, I got some test results back for coronavirus and it came back positive. Yeah, and it sucks. Listen, I’m doing okay, [my wife] Sabrina hasn’t been tested and she’s doing okay. I didn’t have any symptoms, I got tested because I realized I was exposed to someone who had also tested positive. I found out last Friday that they were tested positive, I quarantined myself and got a test immediately and got results back today.”

While it’s good to know that Elba isn’t suffering too much, he goes on to make an important point: Even if you’re not currently showing symptoms, you could still test positive for the disease and pass it on to other people.
“Look, this is serious,” Elba continued. “Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands. Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that can easily spread it, okay? So now’s a real-time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance.”
Elba ended his message by urging us to look out for each other: “We live in a divided world right now, we can all feel it. It’s been bullsh*t. But now is the time for solidarity, now is the time for thinking about each other.”
He promised to keep us updated on his condition, and we’ll be keeping him in our thoughts.
