Idris Elba, royal wedding DJ, says Duchess Meghan gave him specific playlist for reception

Not only did Idris Elba have the honor of attending Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry's royal wedding, he also got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to DJ their reception.

The British actor, 46, revealed to BBC Radio 1Xtra that guests of the royal couple danced the night away, thanks to Meghan Markle, who called the tunes.

"Meghan sent me a playlist," Elba said.

The Sexiest Man Alive, however, remained mum on the selected jams. When asked to reveal songs played at the reception, Elba reluctantly said, "Ask Meghan and Harry."

He did reveal that the Duchess included some of her California roots. "There was some West Coast on it," he said, leading the interviewer to speculate Dr. Dre or Tupac Shakur.

But, it looks like we'll never know if Queen Elizabeth II cut a rug to Dr. Dre's "Nuthin' But A G Thang" or Shakur's "California Love," because Elba wouldn't confirm the songs.

"I’m not gonna put their business out like that, that’s not fair," Elba said.

But don't fret. He did reveal one song that everyone loved: Whitney Houston's 1987 hit "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

Elba – who plays a struggling forty-something DJ trying to reclaim his younger glory on Netflix's "Turn Up Charlie" – has had other gigs since the May 2018 royal affair (like spinning at this year's Coachella Music Festival), but none have been as big.

"You had the gig that every DJ wanted," the radio host said, referring to the reception after the Harry and Meghan's wedding ceremony at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in England.

Speaking of weddings, Elba recently had one of his own. The actor tied the knot to model Sabrina Dhowre in April during a three-day ceremony in Morocco.

"It was one of the most beautiful three days of our lives. We spent a while trying to prep this wedding and wanted to have our entire family connection," Elba said.

He continued: "We both have a big family and network of friends. We brought everyone together, flew to Morocco and had an amazing time."
