'Idol' viewers shocked and disappointed over unexpected double elimination

On the penultimate episode of American Idol Sunday night, the top three contestants were officially announced, which meant two contestants were unfortunately sent home.

Following America's live voting window, Huntergirl, Noah Thompson and Leah Marlene advanced to next week's season finale and viewers sadly said goodbye to Nicolina Bozzo and Fritz Hager.

The double elimination was shocking for some fans, especially since, following Nicolina's emotional and incredible performance of Adele's "All I Ask," judge Lionel Richie told the contestant that her performance was "an American Idol treasured moment."

Meanwhile, fans who thought the top three should have actually been Leah, Fritz and Nicolina took to social media following the live results calling it "the biggest joke ever."

However, even though Fritz and Nicolina are out of the running for Season 20's American Idol, the fans and judges all agreed that the two have bright futures regardless.

KYLIE MAR: Fans who thought the top three should have actually been Leah, Fritz, and Nicolina took to social media following the live results with comments like, "Fritz and Nicolina, the most talented people this season not making it to the finale, is the biggest joke ever." And, "No Nicolina. No Fritz. Finale is about to be extra boring. See y'all next year because, no."

But even though Fritz and Nicolina are out of the running for season 20's "American Idol", the fans are still confident that the two are going to go so far with their careers and can't wait to see it.

- Big careers for everybody on this stage. So look at Katie's face. There you have it, America. The finale next Sunday at 8:00/7:00 Central. We will see you then.
