Idaho crash that killed Kuna city official also took lives of her infant son, sister

After a prominent official in Kuna and Meridian was named as one of three people who died in a multivehicle crash on an Idaho highway, local officials said the other two killed were her infant son and sister.

Lisa Holland — Kuna’s director of economic development and a member of Meridian’s planning and zoning commission — was killed Saturday afternoon during a seven-vehicle crash on Idaho 51 south of Mountain Home. She was 34.

Idaho State Police said after the crash that the two others killed were 38-year-old Portland, Oregon, resident Laurie Bloomquist and an unnamed juvenile.

According to a Facebook post by Meridian Mayor Robert Simison, Bloomquist was Holland’s sister and the juvenile killed was Holland’s infant son, Milo. All three were in the same car, which was driven by 32-year-old Daniel Holland, according to an ISP news release. State Police said after the crash that Daniel Holland was taken to St. Luke’s Elmore Medical Center in Mountain Home for treatment.

According to a GoFundMe created for Lisa and Milo Holland’s funeral — which had eclipsed $43,000 in donations as of Tuesday morning — Daniel Holland is Lisa’s husband.

Lisa Holland was remembered as a dedicated civil servant and loving person.

“The Treasure Valley lost a friend, colleague, passionate volunteer, and community advocate whose work in economic development was a huge influence in our region and the State of Idaho,” Simison said in his statement.

Holland worked in her Kuna position for nearly three years and was responsible for a number of the city’s projects, according to Kuna Mayor Joe Stear.

“The people who work here at the city, we’re one large family, and it’s extremely painful when we lose someone in that manner,” Stear said during a phone interview Monday.

“Lisa will be deeply missed here, and we all loved her.”
