Iconic Tempe Irish pub Rula Bula shuttered in 2021. Now it's making a comeback. Kind of

For over 20 years, Rula Bula was a destination for Guinness and live music on Mill Avenue in Tempe. Fans were heartbroken when the Irish pub was forced to close in 2021 after the landlord did not provide the owners with an opportunity to renew their lease.

But those missing the bar will soon be able to relive the good old days at a limited pop-up event at Mountain America Stadium, formerly Sun Devil Stadium.

During the pop-up event hosted by ASU 365 Community Union, the original bar, art, decor and signage will be on display and guests will be able to order from a limited food and drink menu reminiscent of the one offered at the former pub.

How to raise a pint at the Rula Bula pop-up

The pop-up experience is possible in part due to Goumas saving pieces of the bar and keeping them in storage after the pub's closure.

“When you come to Rula Bula, you are part of a community," said founder Steve Goumas in a press release.

The pop-up event will take place Nov. 10 to 16 at the Coca-Cola Sun Deck at Mountain America Stadium.

Guests are highly encouraged to make reservations at asu365communityunion.com/rulabula.
