Iconic downtown Phoenix food hall The Pemberton is closing. Here's how to visit a last time

The Pemberton, a popular outdoor food and entertainment venue on Roosevelt Row, is closing after three years. Located near the corner of Second and Portland streets, The Pemberton opened in February 2021. Since opening, it saw many businesses come and go, like the French wine bar Moiselle and East Coast-style Italian food truck Saint Pasta.

An Instagram post dated Feb. 8 announced that The Pemberton was closing at the end of March. The post did not allude to why.

The post read: "The Pemberton crew wants to thank ownership for all of the amazing support and allowing our businesses to thrive and grow these last several years - what a fun place to come to work this has been!"

True North Studio has owned the historic property since 2018 and rehabilitated it. The owners collaborated with local artists to add murals to the property. At the time of writing, True North did not respond to requests for comment.

The community expressed shock and dismay at the news

"Noooooooo someone else is just going to buy up the lot and make it wack 😭🙄😮‍💨

The collective has events planned in February, which will be announced on social media, and will still hold a March First Friday.

Owners of businesses like Leña Artesanal Wood Fired Pizza did not know the reason why the venue is closing, but are looking for new homes for their pop-ups.

The Pemberton's owners have not responded to The Arizona Republic's attempts to reach them.

When will The Pemberton officially close?

The Pemberton will close at the end of March.
