Ice-T paid homage to his “favorite rapper,” Prodigy, with a heartfelt post on Instagram.

On Tuesday (Oct. 24), the emcee took to IG to show love to the late New York rapper. He posted a photo of the two men in Las Vegas, which, according to T, was the night he died.

“Pic of me and @PRODIGYMOBBDEEP,” he typed. “I’ve said many times that he was my Favorite MC/Rapper.. This was at a Concert we rocked in Vegas.. He passed away that same night..Life is fragile and precious. Appreciate every min.”

On June 17, 2017, Prodigy and Ice-T were in Vegas as a part of The Art of Rap Tour. The tour included Ghostface Killah, Onyx, KRS-One, and Havoc appearances. After the show at the Mirage, TMZ reported that Prodigy was reportedly rushed to the hospital on a stretcher.

The emcee, né Albert Johnson, was going to an after-party at 1Oak early Sunday morning before he became ill. His team immediately called for an ambulance and escorted him to the hospital on June 18, 2017. Johnson remained in the hospital until Tuesday afternoon, when he passed away.

His illness was related to his sickle cell disease, ultimately worsened by Vegas’ temperatures, which got as hot as 110 degrees during the concert. The disease made him prone to dehydration and a weakened immune system.

Ice-T’s love for the East Coast rapper arrives ten days after the Alchemist paid respects to his longtime collaborator. On Oct. 14, Alan the Chemist took to IG with old footage of Mobb Deep in the studio.

The timeless duo can be heard working on a song, with Al behind the camera soaking in the greatness. “I was so lucky to be around greatness. We will ride again. Prodigy forever. MOBB DEEP FOREVER” he captioned the grainy footage.

Havoc jumped into the comment section to return the love to the mega-producer. “And lucky to have you around my friend,” he responded.
