Ice Spice shared an Instagram carousel on Sunday (Oct. 1), including a recent video of her performing on stage — way too close to a pyro machine.
The “Deli” rapper posted images of her wearing her signature short skater skirt and ginger fro while performing “Princess Diana.” As Ice hit her move where she bends over and twerks, the pyro emblazed the stage, only inches from the 23-year-old.
The fiery effect worried Ice, as she back up and yelled out, “Whoa” into the mic.
“Swipe to see pyro take me tf out,” she wrote in a caption under her IG post. See below.
In other news, Ice Spice, née Isis Naija Gaston, has been having a breakout year. Last month, she won Best New Artist at the 2023 MTV VMA’s held in Newark, NJ. Wearing a custom Madonna-inspired Dolce & Gabbana white tutu dress, she thanked her “munchkins” and God for one of her biggest accolades thus far.
“Y’all, thank you so much,” she emotionally said during her acceptance speech. “Thank you MTV. Oh my God, this is so cool. I just want to thank my Munchkins. I love you guys so much. I want to thank my manager James. I want to thank my producer Riot [USA] for making the best music with me.”
Shedding light on all of the other nominees, she added, “Shoutout to all the other nominees in this category. Shoutout to my label 10K and Capitol for always supporting me. And of course, God. Without God, none of this would be possible. Shoutout the Bronx, period! Thank you guys, I love you so much!”
Ice took home the win in the coveted category over GloRilla, Kaliii, Peso Pluma, PinkPantheress and Reneé Rapp, making this the sixth consecutive year that a woman artist has won Best New Artist. Before the “Princess Diana” rapper, winners include Cardi B (2018), Billie Eilish (2019), Doja Cat (2020), Olivia Rodrigo (2021), and Dove Cameron (2022).
