Ice Cube Loves Being the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Villain

The cast of voice actors in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is absolutely stacked. Still, a major standout among the A-list crowd is West Coast rap legend Ice Cube. Playing Superfly—a mutant fly who wants mutants to rule the world over humans—his mutant animal gang also features voice work from Paul Rudd, Post Malone, Hannibal Buress, John Cena, Rose Byrne, and more.

Of course, though, Ice Cube's Superfly is in charge—and he even quotes Ice-T's "6 in the Mornin'" in the film, while he's (what else?) pummeling down on our beloved turtles. "You get to be evil and nasty," he tels Esquire in the latest episode of "Explain This." Who would like to play the villain? "But what's cool about Superfly is that he has a heart," Cube continues. "He just wants to be liked, and when you don't like him then he wants to rip down a skyscraper."

The former N.W.A. member also reminisced about his time filming 21 Jump Street, receiving boos booed when he performed on the East Coast for the time, and a young John Singleton hounding him for two years before agreeing to do Boyz n the Hood. "I would run into him and he would be like, Yo, I'm a senior at USC, I'm gonna do this movie with you, Cube," Cube recalled. "And I'd be like, Yeah, man whatever. The rest was kinda history, and he's definitely changed my life with that movie." Watch the rest of Ice Cube's "Explain This" interview above.
