Ice Cube has responded to detractors of his BIG3 basketball league airing its game via social media platform X due to its owner Elon Musk’s believed sociopolitical agenda.
On Friday (March 22), Cube had a bit of time on his hands and decided to engage with his followers on social media. When one user inquired why the BIG3 wasn’t airing its game via online video platform Rumble, Cube responded by mentioning the league’s partnership with Elon Musk’s X app. “Cause we’re on X… better ask somebody,” the N.W.A member answered.
However, Cube’s alliance with X and Musk apparently rubbed some of his followers in a negative way, as a few users seemingly critiqued his association with the Tesla CEO.
“Love and respect Cube but his alignment with a white supremest is all we need to know,” another user wrote. “I get it money matters so do you, my guy. Just keep it 100 and don’t Trojan horse for them. White Supremacy is who you are and represent. Enjoy!!”
The user continued to question Musk’s seemingly problematic associates, adding, “Just look and see who Elon connects himself to and tell me I’m wrong. I still have respect for Cube, always will. However, I’m not blind to his who he aligns with. I like the Big 3, both things can be right at the same time.”
After catching wind of the critique, Cube shot back with his own retort, in which he expressed his freedom to operate however he desires. “Shut yo bi**h a** up! I ain’t aligned with nothing, punk. I draw my own f**kin lines.”
This isn’t the first time Ice Cube has drawn blowback due to his views. Prior to the 2020 Presidential Election, Cube had reached out to President Joe Biden and Donald Trump regarding a proposed Contract with Black America he wanted both candidates to consider.
