Ian Ziering, Molly Ringwald pay tribute to ‘beautiful soul’ Luke Perry on first anniversary of his death: ‘You are missed every day’

Luke Perry died one year ago — and his presence is missed on-screen and off.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 heartthrob suffered a massive stroke on Feb. 27, 2019 and died one week later at just 52 years old.

Perry, of course, is best remembered for playing Dylan McKay on the ’90s prime-time soap staple, and his co-star Ian Ziering, who was Steve Sanders, paid tribute to him on the first anniversary of his death. Along with a black and white photo of them in their “Bev Niner” glory, he admitted that while “time heals wounds, the pain of loss lasts forever” and he misses his “pal.”

Fellow 90210 alum Jason Priestley also posted a message about missing his “brother.”

Christine Elise McCarthy, who was Emily Valentine on Beverly Hills, 90210, called Perry one of the “most generous humans I have had the pleasure of knowing” and talked about him being an animal lover.

She also reshared a throwback of herself with Perry and his ex-wife, Minnie Sharp, and Priestley.

Perry appeared on the CW series Riverdale in his final years, playing Fred Andrews, dad of Archie, and Molly Ringwald, who played his estranged wife Mary, also posted. Next to another photo from Perry’s McKay days, the Brat Packer extraordinaire expressed disbelief that a year has passed “since we lost this beautiful soul.” To Perry she wrote, “Your presence is felt” daily.

Mädchen Amick, who plays Betty’s mother Alice, remembered the “gentle soul” he was.

Camila Mendes shared a group shot of Riverdale stars (she plays Veronica) and said she was “thinking of [Perry] today.”

Marisol Nichols, who plays Veronica’s mom Hermione, wrote that she is “missing this incredible being.”

Madelaine Petsch, who is Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale, wrote that she “woke up” and “realized it’s been a year since we lost you. Not a day goes by where I don’t miss you.”

Asha Bromfield, who was Melody Valentine, reshared Amick’s post adding a heart emoji.

As a result of Perry’s sudden death, his character was killed off from Riverdale in an off-screen car-related accident. His Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star and friend Shannen Doherty, who was Brenda to his Dylan, appeared on the show as a special tribute amid her own cancer battle.

And Perry’s presence was felt on the BH90210 reboot, which featured all of his former co-stars. Archival footage of Perry as Dylan was seen in the first episode, with was dedicated to Perry.

Perry is often spoken of by his former co-stars, who are still processing his loss. Last week, Jennie Garth, who also played his love interest as Kelly on 90210, said she recently received a phone call and at first thought it was from “LP,” as she had him in her contacts. Instead, it was from someone named JP.

“It doesn’t seem real, you know?” she said of Perry’s death.

And Lili Reinhart recently shared a dream she had about her Riverdale co-star.

Perry’s name was recently in the news when he was snubbed in the Academy Awards in memoriam segment despite appearing in Best Picture nominee Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. His 90210 co-star Tori Spelling was among those to criticize the omission.
