“We are extremely satisfied with the decision of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office to file three separate charges against Mr. Dumontet,” Quinn’s attorney Jacqueline Sparagna told Entertainment Weekly via a statement from a representative. “He has now been formally charged with child abuse against his 2-year-old toddler, assault against Christine Quinn, and for violating a restraining order. We believe this development is a crucial step toward safeguarding the legal and personal interests of both victims and trust that that the matter will continue to be handled with the utmost seriousness it deserves.”

Arrest records indicate that Dumontent was arrested on two consecutive days, March 19 and March 20. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department website lists his charge type as “Felony” on the first arrest and “Misdemeanor” on the second arrest.

A spokesperson for the LAPD previously told EW that Dumontet was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly hurting a toddler with a glass bottle, which prompted the child to be taken to a hospital. “The suspect threw a bag containing a glass bottle at the victim, missed the victim but hit the victim’s child, causing injury,” a public information officer said in a statement. TMZ later reported that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office decided that the case did not meet felony filing requirements

Dumontet’s subsequent arrest on March 20 came after allegedly violating a temporary protective order. “Last night at approximately 11:40 p.m. our Hollywood officers responded to a radio call," the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement to PEOPLE. "The suspect, Dumontet, Christian, was arrested for violation of a restraining order.”

Dumontet later filed a request for a restraining order against Quinn, denying that there were “incidents of domestic violence within the relationship.” In the request, Dumontet alleged that the original dispute arose after an argument about cleaning up after Quinn’s two dogs. “Mr. Dumontet grabbed the trash bag from the floor and threw it to the side of the room, against the wall,” the document says, per PEOPLE. “Mr. Dumontet did not throw the bag towards Ms. Quinn, or their son. Additionally, there was no glass in the bag, as there was no broken glass in the room or anywhere in the house.”

After filing the restraining order request, Dumontet filed for divorce from Quinn in early April.

The romance between Quinn and Dumontet played out over several seasons of Selling Sunset, and their wedding was a pivotal event in the third season of the Netflix reality series.
