Hulu development executive Jessica Kumai Scott is exiting the streamer to join Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International as president.
The move re-teams Scott, who had been with Hulu since 2012, with Kaling after collaborating on the final three seasons of “The Mindy Project” and Kaling’s recent series adaptation of “Four Weddings and a Funeral.”
“I’m thrilled to welcome Jessica to Kaling International,” said Kaling. “I first met her as my Hulu executive on ‘The Mindy Project,’ and I loved getting notes from her. Her rapport with writers and creators and her great taste gives me such confidence about what she will bring to Kaling International.”
Back in February of this year, Kaling signed a multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television to develop new projects for the studio. The move ended Kalings 15-year relationship with Universal Television, the studio behind “Four Weddings,” “Mindy Project,” “The Office,” as well as the short-lived NBC comedy “Champions.”
Added Scott, “I’ve had a great experience working with Mindy over the years while at Hulu and have been endlessly impressed with her talent and dedication. I can’t wait to work alongside WBTV and Howard Klein to build upon the incredible brand and voice Mindy has already established.”
