‘Up Here’: Hulu Cancels Musical Rom-Com Series After One Season

There will not be a second season of Up Here.

According to TVLine, Hulu has made the decision to officially cancel the musical romantic comedy series after only one season.

The eight-episode series, which premiered on March 24, starred Mae Whitman and Carlos Valdes in the respective roles of Lindsay and Miguel, whose romance comes with a few complications, courtest of the memories, obsessions, fears and fantasies that live inside their heads. Set in New York City in 1999, Up Here was developed by Oscar winners Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, playwright Steven Levenson and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel.

The series, which was based on the stage musical by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, also starred Katie Finneran, John Hodgman, Andrea Burns, Sophia Hammons, Rehanshi Mirza, Emilia Suarez, George Hampe, Julia McDermott, Scott Porter, Ayumi Patterson and Brian Stokes Mitchell.

Aside from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Up Here was executive produced by Levenson, Witzel and Emmy-nominated producer Jennifer Todd.
