A dark reimagining of the classic Robin Hood folktale is imminent, and Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer are set to star.

Titled The Death of Robin Hood, the new interpretation will see “the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battleworn loner who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance at salvation,” per Deadline. The film will be written and directed by Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski.

“It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood,” Sarnoski said in a statement. “Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.” Production on The Death of Robin Hood is slated to begin in February 2025.

In addition to The Death of Robin Hood, both Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer have some major projects ahead. Jackman will make a major return as Wolverine in the new Deadpool & Wolverine film this summer, while Comer has just been added to the cast of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s new 28 Days Later reboot, 28 Years Later.
