Hundreds of New Jersey residents lined up amid wet weather on Wednesday, March 31, outside the state’s newly opened COVID-19 vaccination center at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark.
The facility at NJIT’s Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreation Center, the largest vaccination site in the state, officially opened Wednesday morning. It was being run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. New Jersey Gov Phil Murphy, who expanded eligibility for vaccines on Monday, said the site would “focus on vaccinating residents of vulnerable and medically underserved communities with up to 42,000 doses per week.”
