Huey's in Downtown Memphis to close temporarily for renovations. Here's what's planned.

Memphis restaurant chain Huey’s continues to renovate, with its Downtown location set for upgrades this month.

According to a news release put out by the company on Wednesday, the Downtown Huey's at 77 S. Second St. will close April 16 for a series of upgrades and improvements. A tentative reopening has been set for April 25.

Huey’s — which has been operating in the Memphis area since 1970 and is known for its burgers, beer and live music — has 10 locations in the Mid-South.

In March, Huey's announced it would be doing major renovations to its East Memphis location, at 4872 Poplar Ave. Huey's East has been closed since March 26, but is set to reopen on Friday, with a new look and added amenities, including an enclosed patio.

The changes planned for the Downtown Huey's include completing "much-needed dining room and kitchen repairs and renovation," according to the company.

In a statement announcing the restaurant’s temporary closure, Huey's Chief Operating Officer Steve Voss said: “Our team is excited to offer the public a newly renovated space that will hopefully lend to an even more enjoyable atmosphere and many more memories filled with Blues, Brews & Burgers in the future.”

While the Downtown Huey's is closed, operations at the other nine locations will continue as normal.
