Dogs in Halloween costumes: Howl-O-Ween Pup-Up with Viva Fall River

This one’s for our little furry friends. The Viva Fall River Maker Shop is holding a Howl-O-Ween Pup-Up event on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m., at 333 S. Main St. You can dress your pup up for Halloween and enter them into the pet costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative and spookiest outfits. Live music: Concerts at The Narrows Center for the Arts

The fall season line-up continues at The Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan St., Fall River. On Wednesday, Oct. 25, platinum-selling singer, songwriter and touring artist Eric Hutchinson will be performing. Hutchinson has shared the stage with Kelly Clarkson, OneRepublic, Jason Mraz, Amos Lee, O.A.R., and Lawrence. On Thursday, Oct. 26, blues-rock artist Matt Andersen will be performing, on the heels of his latest album, “The Big Bottle of Joy.” Visionary instrumental quartet Sex Mob stops by on Friday, Oct. 27. The group features slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein, alto/baritone saxophonist Briggan Krauss, upright/electric bassist Tony Scherr and drummer Kenny Wollesen. Movie night: See classic silent horror film ‘Phantom of the Opera’ at Jane Pickens Theatre in Newport

See the 1925 silent horror classic “The Phantom of the Opera,” accompanied by live music! The film, starring  legendary actor Lon Chaney in the title role, will be screened on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m., at the Jane Pickens Theatre Film and Event Center, 49 Touro St., Newport. The screening will feature live accompaniment by Jeff Rapsis, a New Hampshire-based composer who specializes in creating music for silent films. Halloween hike: Folklore, beer and wine with Audubon

Join the Audubon Society of Rhode Island for a scary good time at the Caratunk Wildlife Refuge, 301 Brown Ave., Seekonk. They’re hosting an evening of folklore, with local brews and wine, on Friday, Oct. 27, from 8 to 10 p.m. Hear some eerie New England tales relating to nocturnal wildlife, then take a stroll along the trails and observe the children of the night for yourself. Dress for the weather and bring a flashlight. This event is for guests age 21 and older. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Live music and dancing: Halloween party at Agoro’s Pizza Bar & Grill

Put on your spookiest costume and get ready to party at Agoro’s Pizza Bar & Grill, 2756 County St., Somerset. On Friday, Oct. 27, they’re hosting their Halloween party in Vasilis Venue. Author event: Special reading, Halloween fun at Viva Maker Shop

On Saturday, Oct. 28, stop by the Viva Maker Shop from noon to 3 p.m. for a special Halloween double-header event. There will be a reading by LS Gagnon, author of the “Thea: The Little Witch” series. History and fun: Halloween trick or treat at The Breakers

Step back into the Gilded Age for a little Halloween fun. The Preservation Society of Newport County presents Trick or Treat at The Breakers on Friday, Oct. 27. Come in costume to the mansion at 44 Ochre Point Ave., Newport. They’ll have treats and surprises for guests of all ages, and 10 rooms all decked out for Halloween. There will be toys and treats handed out at six stations throughout the house, as well as a photo station. Choose between two entry times: 5:30 or 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and children, and kids under 2 get in for free. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center food pantry. Local crafts: Piecemakers Quilt Show in Seekonk

Sponsored by The Piecemakers Quilt Group, the Piecemakers Quilt Show will be held at Seekonk Congregational Church, 600 Fall River Ave., on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. There will be over 100 projects on display, challenge projects, a quilter’s boutique, a bargain table, as well as lunch and snacks. Tickets are available at the show.

Live orchestra: South Coast Chamber Music Series

The South Coast Chamber Music Series kicks off its 2023-24 season on Saturday, Oct. 28. Featuring musicians from the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, this season will traverse three centuries’ worth of masterworks. Legends and lore: Spooky evening stroll at Copicut Woods

Enjoy some local legends and lore while exploring Fall River’s Copicut Woods. The Trustees are hosting a spooky evening stroll on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. Superstition and speculation about paranormal activity have long surrounded the area. This guided hike will take guests through an abandoned farm settlement and Miller Lane. Hear spooky stories, learn about local wildlife, and see how our relationship to nature intersects with lore and legends. The hike is approximately four miles long. Expect rocky terrain, exposed roots, and foggy weather. The cost is $12 for members, and $20 for non-members. For more information, call 978-338-1136.

Movies and music: Nosferatu Halloween Spooktacular at The Narrows

Enjoy an evening with a horror classic, live music, creepy costumes, and special guests. The Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan St., Fall River is hosting the second annual Nosfertatu Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 8 pm. Doors open at 7 p.m. A live band will be performing an immersive rock soundtrack for the 1922 horror classic “Nosferatu.” Tickets are $26 in advance and $31 the day of the show. Author talk: Former Conjuring House resident to visit The Alley Theatre

Andrea Perron, oldest daughter of the Perron family, former residents of the infamous “Conjuring” House in Burrillville, Rhode Island, will be giving a presentation in Middleboro. Perron will be at The Alley Theatre, 133 Center St., on Sunday, Oct. 29. She will be discussing her childhood home, which inspired the movie “The Conjuring.” There will be a Q&A session, and Perron will be signing and selling copies of her book, “House of Darkness House of Light.” This event is from 5 to 7 p.m., and admission is $25. Proceeds will benefit The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts. The Bartending Service of New England will be offering beverages, and Coffee Milano will be offering food.
