The last performance episode of “America’s Got Talent” Season 18 aired on Tuesday, September 26 with the 11 finalists taking the stage for America’s votes. Everything seemed to be going according to plan until it came to the second act of the night, Mzansi Youth Choir. Following their high-energy performance of “My Universe” by BTS and Coldplay, Howie Mandel was booed by the live studio audience when he declared it “wasn’t [his] favorite.” Do YOU agree with Howie? Or were you more in the camp of Simon CowellHeidi Klum and Sofia Vergara, who had nothing but praises for the South African chorale group? Watch the “AGT” video above.

Howie started out his critic by telling them, “I love you,” and that they’re one of his “favorite choirs ever in the history of ‘AGT.'” He went on to say, “I was so moved when you first came on. [But] if this was the album, this wasn’t my favorite number you’ve done out of the three numbers.” That’s when Sofia and the audience interrupted him by audibly booing. Howie concluded by noting, “But that doesn’t mean that you’re not worthy of being here in the finals and being voted for.”

Moments later, Howie was booed again when he claimed he wasn’t as wowed by the performance of dance group Chibi Unity as his fellow judges. Throughout the live Qualifiers rounds, Howie pushed his red X a whopping four times, for Ray Wold & Mom, Sharpe Family Singers, Phil Wright & Parent Jam and Trailer Flowers, the last of which caused a ruckus at the judges’ table because he actually pressed Heidi’s red X instead of his.

The first time Mzansi Youth Choir appeared on “AGT,” they received the inaugual audience Golden Buzzer when they performed “It’s OK” by late contestant Nightbirde. In the live shows, the singing group took on Fleetwood Mac‘s “Everywhere” and were told by a proud Simon, “We always say that this stage can make you or break you. Tonight it made you.”
