How Christina’s Loss Ended Up Being Pharrell’s Win on ‘The Voice’

On Monday’s episode of The Voice, the blind auditions concluded and the battle rounds began. Christina pitted Bryan Bautista and Malik Heard against each other, but Christina was the only one with something to lose. The torn coach said, “There is no loser today. I am literally the loser in this battle. I am humbled to work with both of you. You are both talented singers.”

Once the soulful showdown between Bryan and Malik was done, for the coaches it was like blind auditions all over again. Adam Levine opened with a strong pitch: “If I can coach you, we can get to the point where I think you would be a frontrunner in this competition.” Pharrell followed up by saying, “What I would love to do is empower you and make this moment yours and show who you really are deep down inside.” And while the coaches are all great, what really mattered was which pitch was pitch-perfect to Malik’s ear. Malik finally chose Pharrell, and the two artists hugged it out.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
