House of Marigold to open new location inside Speed Art Museum. Here's what we know

If you’re already a fan of The House of Marigold, you’ll want to try its new location at the Speed Art Museum.

But, you may have to wait a bit. The restaurant and its catering company will be the new food service provider and café operator of the Speed Art Museum, according to co-owner Adrienne Cole.

This comes after the Wiltshire At The Speed had its last day of operation in December, following eight years at the museum in Old Louisville.

As the museum conducts a full renovation, some of that work will welcome in what will be called EST 1927 by Marigold Catering Company.

Construction is expected to be done by March or April and then the in-house cafe should open in the following months, Cole told the Courier Journal.

At this new location, The House of Marigold will continue its tale of beautiful, flowery decor mixed with elevated comfort food. The restaurant opened in March 2023 at the former Royal’s Hot Chicken spot on Shelbyville Road.

“We’re always looking to expand and grow our business,” Cole said, “It’s just a great way to partner with a wonderful group and entity and a great opportunity to get more exposure for us.”

Cole and her husband Kris Cole, who is the restaurant’s culinary director and chef, began this journey in 2019 with Marigold Catering Co.

As far as the menu goes, patrons can expect some of the lunch and brunch favorites from the House of Marigold and other specials curated for the museum’s exhibitions.
