House of Aama Presents Its SS22 Collection, "Salt Water"

Los Angeles-based brand House of Aama releases a quietly powerful visual campaign for its Spring/Summer 2022 collection “Salt Water." The label’s new line is inspired by the hidden history of Black sailors and the complex symbolism of water in the African diaspora.

Founded by mother and daughter Rebecca Henry and Akua Shabaka, the nostalgic designs carry on the tradition of Black storytelling while ensuring its future and survival. The brand imagines Camp Aama, a serene Black oasis to showcase its nautical designs.

House of Aama’s latest melange is comprised of dramatic floor-length mesh dresses, striped matching sets for lounging by the shore and tattoo mesh turtlenecks, perfect for layering without compromising style.

Elsewhere are bikinis in shades of rich brown accented with pops of rich orange and playful brown, and white gingham hats to shield your skin from the sun. A vintage-inspired halter dress joins the collection, boasting a deeply saturated orange voluminous skirt. For a more contemporary look, the range includes a sultry cut-out dress. The backless multi-colored garment features a plunging neckline and bare sides.
