Early birds are getting the worm when it comes to tickets for live entertainment at the beach. Winter happenings are selling out in advance, as are shows that won’t take place until spring or summer.
Fager's oyster fest sells out, but Brewgrass tickets still available
In Ocean City, Fager’s Island will host its 10th annual Oyster Garden event Saturday, Feb. 17, and tickets are sold out. It will include music courtesy of Baltimore jam band Blue Miracle.
Fager’s still has some tickets available, however, for next month’s 12th Annual Brewgrass celebration. That one will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23; it will center around food, microbrews and performances by the String Buzzards and the Dirty Grass Players ($72).

Cork sells out anniversary bash, but has hot country show coming
In Dewey Beach, the famed Bottle & Cork nightclub hasn’t even opened for its 2024 season yet, but advance tickets are already selling like hotcakes. As mentioned in this column last week, the Cork’s 88th Anniversary Party is Friday, Aug. 16, and will again spotlight a reunion of local rock act Mr. Greengenes. All 1,200 of those tickets were sold out within two minutes of being released online Feb. 9.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 16, for the Cork’s annual two-nighter featuring Justin Moore. The country star will perform Thursday and Friday, July 11-12, with ticket prices to be announced. Tickets are on sale now for a Thursday, June 27, appearance by Dave Matthews tribute act Trippin Billies ($30).

Freeman stage starts to heat up, with two coming shows announced
In Selbyville, excitement is building around what the seasonal Freeman Arts Pavilion has up its sleeve. It is teasing a Monday, Feb. 19, announcement revealing the lineup of its outdoor Sounds Like Summerconcert series. However, it has shared details about two of these shows.
Blues-rock guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa will appear at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 ($74). Freeman will present a pair of Grammy-winning acts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, when The Indigo Girls and Melissa Etheridge share the stage ($64). Tickets for both shows will go on sale Friday, Feb. 23.

Comedy shows will bring big laughs at Sussex venues
Elsewhere in coastal Sussex County, the Dickens Parlour Theatre in Ocean View has issued a “low-ticket alert” for Committed to Comedy, a variety show with audience participation set for 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17. It will be hosted by local spouses and standup comedians Ashley and Tyler Dark ($25).
The Darks are also scheduled to yuk it up at The Listening Booth, located in the Tanger Outlets Surfside shopping center on southbound Route 1 at Midway. Their monthly Comedy After Dark event there is at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, and includes a headlining set by funny man Johnny Watson ($20).
The Listening Booth will be in music mode when it presents a double bill of acoustic rock by Skribe and Cliff Hillis at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 ($35).

Free shows coming to Dogfish Head this weekend
In downtown Rehoboth Beach, the Dogfish Head brewpub will host a pair of free rock shows this coming weekend. Things start off at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, when longtime Dogfish employee Chris Lausch debuts his tribute to ’80s music; while it is a five-piece band, it is cleverly named The Thompson Triplets.
At 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, Chicago-based touring act Brigitte Calls Me Baby will appear. The indie-rock group is supporting its debut album, “This House Is Made of Corners.”
And yes, even a tribute to Van Halen
Another downtown Rehoboth tribute show will take place at the nearby Conch Island Key West Bar & Grill at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17. Van Halen Nation will play classic VH hits from its 1978-1984 David Lee Roth era, including “Jump,” “Hot For Teacher” and “Panama” ($25).
Those who tuned in early to the Super Bowl to watch pre-game coverage may have seen the interview of Las Vegas show-biz icon Wayne Newton, who shared footage from his current “Up Close And Personal” tour. Tickets are selling briskly for his Rehoboth Beach Convention Center appearance, which is set for 7 p.m. Friday, March 1 ($65, $75)
