'I have a very hot lead': Dog the Bounty Hunter is going after fugitive who made death threats against President Trump

Dog the Bounty Hunter is joining the manhunt for Pennsylvania fugitive Shawn Christy.

The A&E star, whose real name is Duane Chapman, told Ohio publication the Mansfield News Journal he has been retained by a friend of the Christy family. “I have a very hot lead,” he said.

Christy is wanted for allegedly threatening to harm and/or kill a police chief, other law enforcement officers, a district attorney, and President Trump, according to the FBI. He allegedly posted death threats against the president on Facebook between June 3 and June 12, 2018, claiming he would shoot Trump in the head and was going to use “lethal force” on any law enforcement officer attempting to detain him. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Christy.

“I have delivered messages to him,” Chapman said, declining to elaborate further. The reality sensation believes he can talk some sense into Christy, who he says is not a career criminal.

The FBI says Christy, who is on its “most wanted” list, “should be considered armed and dangerous” and may be in the possession of several stolen handguns. Chapman doesn’t believe Christy is armed and hopes to bring him in peacefully.

Federal law enforcement officials are in Ohio this week searching for the 26-year-old man, whom they believe crashed a stolen vehicle near Mansfield on Sunday. Chapman believes Christy wrecked his vehicle because he fell asleep.

“My goal is not to shoot him but get him to surrender,” Chapman declared. The television personality is set to arrive in Ohio next week.
