Well, October is in full swing, so here is Part II of an important series in which we explore the curious link between Taylor Swift lyrics and horror movies . In today's episode, we look at how the plots of horror movies are secretly hidden in Taylor's lyrics. Let's begin! *WARNING* horror movie spoilers ahead, probably!
1. The Happening (2008)In this movie, which I haven't seen but have heard is so bad it's good, trees develop a defense mechanism that kills off all the humans on the planet. Sounds like something we need, and also no doubt what Taylor was singing about in "Out of the Woods".
20th Century Studios / Via youtube.com Now we know that "Dear John" was not about the John we thought it was, but in fact it was a respectful nod to John Krasinski , director and co-star of A Quiet Place .
Paramount Pictures / Via youtube.com In case you haven't seen it, this is the film where Megan Fox is possessed by a demon and becomes a "pale and sickly creature jonesing for a meaty snack" who preys on the local men. Definitely ghost-written by our horror queen.
20th Century Studios / Via youtube.com 4. Pearl (2022)Give first lady of horror Mia Goth all of the awards for this film, and Taylor all of the awards for writing a song about it.
A24 / Via youtube.com 5. 28 Days Later (2002)6. Night of the Living Dead (1968)"Look what you made me do" — the flesh-eating ghouls you and your friends are trapped with in a farmhouse.
Off Color Films / Via youtube.com Discovering your neighbors aren't as sweet as they look? Ah, yes. We know it "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)."
Paramount Pictures / Via youtube.com 8. Scream (1996)Another secret horror movie found in "All Too Well"! We could do this all day.
Paramount Pictures / Via youtube.com 9. Saw (2004)"The rules of our game have been made very clear" — Jigsaw & Taylor Swift
Lionsgate / Via youtube.com 10. Silence of the Lambs (1991)"It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it is told." There is simply so much depth to this song.
MGM / Via youtube.com 11. Possession (1981)Another psychological horror-drama masterpiece. Do we mean the song, or the film? Yes.
Gaumont / Via youtube.com 12. Fatal Attraction (1987)Don't think I need to explain this one...
Paramount Pictures / Via youtube.com 13. And finally, Dear David (2023) The guy on the screen = malevolent child coming to haunt your apartment, in this instance. And it's pretty crazy that this movie releases on Friday October 13, the same day as Taylor's new movie. Double feature, anyone?
