Horror Comedy ‘Easter Bloody Easter’ Acquired by Gravitas Ventures (EXCLUSIVE)

Gravitas Ventures has acquired the WallyBird Productions horror comedy “Easter Bloody Easter” and will release the film in North America and select international markets, including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, on video on demand March 26.

The film is the directorial debut of Diane Foster, who will also star alongside Kelly Grant, Allison Lobel, Zuri Starks, D’Andre Noiré, Zachary Kanner, Miles Cooper and Gavin Lee.

Allison Lobel wrote the film, which, according to the statement, will serve as the first installment of a new horror franchise of the same name.

The film follows Jeanie (Foster), who, after discovering her husband missing and his car wrecked with blood and fur, embarks on a journey with her friend Carol to uncover the truth behind the town’s dark legend of the killer Jackalope — a shapeshifting human-rabbit hybrid that terrorized the area a century and a half ago. Now, Jeanie and Carol must team up with professional bunny slayer Megan to save their small Texan town — on the eve of celebrating “Easter-palooza” — and stop the Jackalope once and for all.

“WallyBird Productions and I are thrilled to be partnering with Gravitas Ventures to bring audiences the horror comedy, ‘Easter Bloody Easter.’ Along with egg hunts and candy-filled baskets, I am excited for families and friends to add watching ‘Easter Bloody Easter’ to their holiday traditions,” Foster said in a statement. “As the first installment in the ‘Easter Bloody Easter’ franchise, this film is a quirky murder mystery that brings to Easter what it has been missing — an unforgettable movie monster and a chance to laugh, scream and sing along, just like ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show.'”

Recent Gravitas Venture releases include “Deep Fear,” “Slotherhouse,” “Padre Pio,” “Gringa,” “The Pez Outlaw,” “Downwind,” “Mack & Rita,” “The King’s Daughter,” “Queen Bees,” “Our Friend,” “Vanguard” and “The Secret: Dare to Dream.”

Gravitas Ventures” Acquisitions Manager Mackenzie Maguire negotiated the deal with Ryan Bury of MPX Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
