Hopewell: 5th Annual Wonder City Classic Battle of the Bands, 13 compete to be top dog

HOPEWELL — The 5th Annual Wonder City Classic Battle of the Bands takes place this weekend on Merner Field. Witness an epic display of talent featuring top marching bands compete for bragging rights. Who will reign supreme?

The event on Saturday, October 7 begins at 5 p.m., and the gates open at 4 p.m. If inclement weather should occur, the event will be held in the Hopewell High School gymnasium.

The 13 participating high school bands include Churchland, Eastern, Granby, Greensville, Henrico, Highland Springs, Huguenot, Petersburg, Smithfield and Warwick.

The event will feature in exhibition Hopewell High School "MBD," Virginia State University "Trojan Explosion" and Virginia Union University "Ambassadors of Sound."

Tickets for ages five to adult are $10 are available online at gofan.co. Enter Hopewell High School, Hopewell, VA in the search field. For your information, tickets for this event must be presented using your mobile device via the GoFan app or the gofan.co mobile site. Ticket holders will not be able to print tickets for this event, and screenshots are not accepted for entry.
