The Hoodoo Mural Festival, now in its third year, announced its planned return to downtown Amarillo on Saturday, Oct. 1, as well as its featured artists.

Local nonprofit organizers at the Hoodoo Art Foundation said tickets for general admission and VIP will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via www.HoodooMural.com.

"Following a successful campaign last October that brought thousands of attendees to downtown Amarillo, Hoodoo is poised to return this fall with a curated mix of nationally-acclaimed and locally beloved artists for a daylong family-friendly celebration of music, art, and community," a news release states. "Founded by Amarillo native and longtime resident Andrew Hall, the all-ages event is meant to bring local residents and travelers alike to commemorate the completion of a massive city-wide urban beautification project between local business-owners and creative mural artists who this year are painting six large-scale outdoor walls in downtown Amarillo."

Through the combination of live music and public art, the nonprofit-led organization hopes to inspire the community while attracting new audiences to explore the beauty of Amarillo and the greater Texas Panhandle region, the release said.

Among the festival's music lineup will be Los Angeles’s modern pop duo Neil Frances, who recently released their debut album "There is No Neil Frances" in February; New Jersey-based music producer and DJ Flamingosis, known for his tunes that blend the sounds of funk, soul, and electronic music; multi-platform music producer Kaelin Ellis from today’s electronic and hip-hop beat scene; and up-and-coming electro-pop duo Little Jet.

In the mural art lineup is Tristan Eaton, who has more than 25 years of art experience with projects spanning the country and is often sought ought for his unique patchwork, multi-medium portraits; Ricardo Gonzalez (aka It’s A Living), a designer and artist from Durango, Mexico, who emphasizes unique typographies in his larger-than-life murals; and Los Angeles-based muralist Rabi, who is part of the artist collective CYRCLE and whose most notable fans include the likes of Shepard Fairey, Sean Combs, and the MGM Grand Las Vegas.

In addition, Hoodoo alumni Drew Merritt (2021) and Malcolm Byers (2019) are also set to return to the festival, the release says.

"Merrit, a New Mexico-born artist whose work expresses a deep emotional connection to nature and those who work the land, has played an instrumental role in this year’s event, bringing together some of today’s most sought-after muralists from across the globe," the release says. "Fans can get a sneak peek of Merrit’s mural named 'The Chase' that is still available for free public viewing downtown at 516 S Polk St. in downtown Amarillo."
