Homemade Dry Shampoo Is What TikTokers Are Swearing By To Boost Hair Growth

Regarding textured hair, dry shampoo is the last thing on anyone's mind with tightly coiled tresses. We need all of the moisture, all of the conditioning. However, TikTok's latest DIY project reimagines what dry shampoo is to all, and the results are quite fascinating.

#DIYDryShampoo has racked up a cool 1 Billion views on the trending machine app. Over the last few years, we've learned that developing your haircare routine and making your tresses feel in shape between wash days is essential — which is why this homemade alternative is doing rounds. TikToker Lily Van Brooklyn, known for her haircare tips and tricks, took to the app to reveal her concoction of the viral shampoo alternative.

The DIY shampoo blends on TikTok vary depending on hair type, needs and texture. Lily's mix leans in with the natural approach, made with drops of rosemary oil, making it an inclusive win. Those with texture tresses can use Mielle Organics Rosemary Oil to stimulate hair growth. Another buzzy ingredient that picked up lots of controversial steam on the Black beauty side of TikTok.

Focusing more on Lily's mix, she starts by mixing 1.5 tbsp of arrowroot powder, 1 tbsp of baking soda, half a tbs of turmeric (cocoa powder for those with dark hair) and a few drops of rosemary oil, and give it a good and stern mix. When applying the mixture, section your hair off and apply directly to the roots with a fluffy powder brush as you would with dry shampoo.

From here, you should see an instant revitalization of your tresses.
