“I was hungry – I would do anything for food, really,” says the teen, who admits she stole from stores.
Darbi, who spent nearly a month living hand-to-mouth, says it was a relief to get off the street – and to see her parents, Janice and Wayne, again. The former couple, who say they have a long history of fighting over how Darbi and her siblings are being raised, had paid a visit to the Dr. Phil stage just hours before the teenager was found.
“Just this whole Dr. Phil thing – I’m so grateful for it,” says Darbi. My parents are interacting. It’s different – and I feel like it’s really – like things changed. It just made me feel so happy.”
Why does Darbi say she ran away from home – and what was she looking for? Tune in to the conclusion of this two-part Dr. Phil on Thursday.
