Former Home Alone actor Devin Ratray has pleaded guilty to two domestic violence charges on Wednesday, reaching a deal that will keep him out of prison.

The plea deal brings an end to Ratray’s domestic violence case three years after he was arrested following an altercation with a woman in December 2021.

Ratray, 47, pleaded guilty to one count of domestic assault and battery by strangulation and another count of domestic assault and battery, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE.

The actor was ordered to take behavior intervention plan classes, as well as being ordered to undergo drug and alcohol assessment. Ratray was also ordered to have no contact with the woman he pleaded guilty to assaulting.

Ratray first rose to prominence in the early 1990s when he played Buzz McCallister, the older brother to Macaulay Culkin's character, in the first two Home Alone movies. His 2021 arrest came after his girlfriend alleged Ratray had punched her in the face, covered her mouth with his hand and then tried to strangle her.

The woman has previously been identified as Ratray’s girlfriend at the time of his arrest, according to a report by local KFOR.

The woman had told police at the time that the pair got into an argument at a bar, according to the outlet. Ratray’s girlfriend then told police that she left him to return to their hotel room and that he followed her back to the hotel, where the woman said he pinned her on the bed and began choking her.

KFOR reported that Oklahoma City Police Detective Joseph Burnett wrote in his report about the altercation that Ratray allegedly threatened the woman: “This is how you die,” he allegedly said as he strangled her. Ratray then stopped strangling her and punched the woman in the face before she ran out of their hotel room, according to the report.

The actor’s domestic violence trial was delayed last month after he was reportedly hospitalized “in critical condition,” according to TMZ. It remains unclear what Ratray was hospitalized for at the time. The outlet reported that Ratray has since been released and returned home.

The domestic violence charges against Ratray also revived a 2017 rape allegation against the actor.

Lisa Smith, the woman who said Ratray allegedly raped her, had first filed a police report against him in 2017. After hearing about Ratray’s domestic violence charge in late 2021, Smith told CNN she reached back out to police to find out why her report was never investigated.

Ratray has not been charged in connection to Smith’s allegations and he denied the accusations in a phone call with CNN at the time, the outlet reported.
