Issues in the labor dispute center include a raise for teachers, five-day a week nursing in the schools, increased hiring of teachers to reduce classroom sizes, plus funding for librarians and academic counselors at the high schools.

SAG-AFTRA issued an early blast on its official Twitter account. “We stand with our sisters and brothers of @UTLAnow as they fight for a fair contract, smaller class sizes, full & equitable funding to support students, and RESPECT. Their fight is our fight!”

IATSE Local 871 said in a Facebook post that it “stands in #solidarity with our UTLA educators,” reposting instructions from the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor AFL-CIO.

The American Federation of Musicians Local 47 also chimed in.
