Hollywood Stars Rip ‘Shameful’ Supreme Court Travel Ban Ruling: ‘This Is Devastating’
Hollywood stars are enraged over the Supreme Court ruling Tuesday that upheld Donald Trump’s travel ban.
“Will and Grace” star Debra Messing called the ruling “devastating,” and urged her followers to vote in this year’s upcoming midterm elections. “Voting is our best defense,” she said.
Others were more concise with their feelings. “Silicon Valley” star Kumail Nanjiani said, “Muslim bans are now legal forever.”

Several celebrities also suggested that the ruling might not have gone in Trump’s favor had the seat, vacated by Antonin Scalia, gone to Barack Obama’s nominee Merrick Garland, and not to Trump’s nominee Neil Gorsuch.
“That stolen SCOTUS seat, though,” former “Community” star Yvette Nicole Brown tweeted. “That’s for LIFE.”

The Supreme Court upholds the travel ban. This is devastating. This is happening because @SenateMajLdr stole a Supreme Court Justice. REMEMBER THIS in November. Voting is our best defense. Please #VOTE#today

That's for LIFE. #SupremeCourt

McConnell stole a SCOTUS seat, and now SCOTUS is gutting antitrust law, banning immigration based on religion, and upholding gerrymandered districts that help the GOP. But tell me more about how we should be civil.

Today's 5-4 decision to give the President of the United States broad powers to target and ban an entire nationality from entering this country, regardless of the actual risks posed, will do down as one of the most bigoted SCOTUS decisions in American history.
It's that ugly. https://t.co/HfVpy31oFC

Most amazing thing is even Trump is surprised (Wow!) that conservatives were able to steal Obama's SCOTUS pick and start truly MAKING AMERICAN WHITE AGAIN! This is a very sad day for our beautiful country. Huge step back towards much darker days. https://t.co/U7dfWNvais

Travel ban is born of this president’s xenophobia. Today’s Supreme Court ruling could further encourage fear and hatred among his followers. It also makes clear that we need laws to govern a tyrannical president

The ruling was made in a 5-4 decision, according to CNN. This is the third iteration of the ban, and restricts travelers from Iran, North Korea, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Venezuela from entering the United States to different degrees.
In a statement issued by the White House, Trump called the ruling “a moment of profound vindication following months of hysterical commentary from the media and Democratic politicians who refuse to do what it takes to secure our border and our country,” The New York Times reported.
